Hi, I’m Gladys (pronounced Gla-dees) and
I am excited you’ve taken the time to visit my website.
I’m licensed in the state of Washington to provide therapy and other social services as a LSWAIC. I specialize in providing therapy to women to prevent and treat perinatal* mood and anxiety disorders. While that is my specialty, my services are not limited to perinatal clients. Click here to see the other services I offer.
About Me.
As a social worker, I have worked with refugees resettling in the United States by providing assistance in navigating their new lives away from their homes. I have also worked with non-profits aiming to empower families and young women by helping them recognize their potential and reach their goals. In the past, I’ve provided counseling and group therapy to young women ages 13-19.
In my spare time, I enjoy working out, reading a good book, or trying a new restaurant. When possible, I love to escape to a sunny place with an amazing beach﹣ my “happy place” away from home. I am passionate about studying trauma and raising awareness about mental health disparities, resources, and support.
In therapy, each person’s goals are different, whether it’s to reduce anxiety symptoms, treat depression, or to increase attachment with your baby, etc. I utilize an integrative therapeutic approach, working with you to build an individualized plan to help reach your unique goals. I’m trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing EMDR therapy (EMDR). EMDR therapy is a psychotherapy that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences. I also use other evidence-based therapeutic modalities, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), but most importantly I hold no judgement. I encourage open communication and hope to find you support whether it’s with me or another provider who may be a better fit.
*Perinatal: Relating to the time before and after birth, usually during pregnancy and up to one year postpartum.
